Russian Government Authorizes Customs Union Regulators

15.05.2013 11:56 / Interfax

The Russian Government has appointed ministries to supervise the implementation of five Customs Union procedures. Decree 407 was signed on 13 May and posted on the Russian cabinet of ministers website Wednesday.

“The decree, drafted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is part of Russia’s commitment to the Joint Customs Policy Agreement of 18 November 2010 signed by Belorussia, Kazakhstan and Russia”, says the decree memo.

In accordance with the agreement, Customs Union members appoint state supervisors over mandatory technical CU procedures, to perform their functions as prescribed by local laws.

“The document will ensure compliance with the agreement, protecting Russian markets from faulty and potentially dangerous goods, including those shipped from third countries”, states the Government.
