Ministry of Finance Ready To Grant 30 Billion Roubles For Road Building in Moscow

25.10.2012 08:41 / Interfax

A decision on granting a large budget tranche on constructing roads in Moscow was taken at the meeting on developing Moscow agglomeration, held by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, as “Izvestia” website informed on Thursday.

“The Ministry of Finance will give 30 billion RUR to Moscow for financing transport infrastructure objects construction by the end of the year,” the note says giving a link to a Shuvalov’s meeting protocol.

In Moscow construction agency “Izvestia” was informed that it is all about spending on the “traffic network”. Meanwhile, a Mayor’s office failed to explain what exact projects will get these 30 billion RUR.

Though, it is one of the greatest financial federal budget tranches that Moscow has recently received on transport infrastructure development, the newspaper notes.

“Izvestia” reminds that the 2012-2016 state traffic program for Moscow plans unprecedented financial investments – over 2,2 trillion RUR within five years. General costs need to be covered by the city budget, though, the program has been somehow corrected this year. The federal budget took upon itself additional spending on suburban railway transport development, including the Moscow Railroad minor ring infrastructure development.

Director of Scientific Research Institute of Public Road System, Member of Community Council at the Moscow Transport Department Alexander Sarychev pointed out in his interview to the newspaper that 30 billion RUR is not a really decent support taking in account great plans of the city administration.

“Moscow city budget only for the year of 2013 expects to give 368.6 billion RUR for the city transportation system development. It is greater than the city’s spending on the population’s social protection. It means, federal support will be only 10% of the city costs,” he noticed.
