Free Moscow Call-Center for Foreign Tourists Works From Today

The Moscow Tourist Committee launched a Call Center. Operators answer questions in Russian and English on free toll numbers 8 (800) 220-00-01 and 8 (800) 220-00-02. The previous month the call-center worked in test mode and received more than 700 calls. The Tourist Committee is planning to put up advertisements in Moscow airports and hotels in November.

For now, only two languages are available for tourists: Russian and English, but the list will extend to French, German and Chinese by 2012. 12 English-speaking operators work in the call-center, and one of the major admission requirements was work experience with tourists. According to the Committee Head Sergey Shpilko, the database of typical city visitors’ questions and answers will be formed shortly: this will allow operators to work promptly and with maximum quality.
